[16] [01] Vehicle Registration

  1. A person shall not drive, move, or leave standing on a street or parking facility any motor vehicle or trailer unless it is registered and the appropriate fees have been paid.
  2. Any motor vehicle which is based in San Andreas or primarily used in the state of San Andreas shall be registered in San Andreas. Exceptions are as follows: A) A motor vehicle properly registered in any state that has operated in San Andreas for less than 90 days may not be registered in San Andreas. B) Any motor vehicle properly registered to the federal government.
  3. License plates shall at all times be securely fastened at the rear and front of the motor vehicle which they are issued to. Plates shall be fastened in a manner which prevents the plate from swinging and is clearly visible. Plate characters shall be upright and display from left to right and kept in a condition which leaves characters legible.
  4. Proof of registration shall be carried in the motor vehicle which it is issued to at all times while being operated.
Vehicle Registration is an Infraction.

[16] [02] Drivers License

  1. A person may not drive a motor vehicle that is of a type which the person does not have a license to operate.
  2. When driving a motor vehicle, the operator must have a valid license in their possession.
  3. No person at any time shall have more than one license in their possession.
Drivers License is an Infraction.

Fine: $500

Vehicles being operated by a persons who does not hold a valid license, may be impounded at the officers discretion.


[16] [03] Driving Without a License

  1. A person who operates a motor vehicle without a valid license in their possession is guilty under this section.
  2. Any resident of San Andreas who operates a motor vehicle must posses a valid San Andreas drivers license. Exceptions are as follows: A) The person operating the vehicle has been a resident for less than 10 days and has a valid drivers license in another state. B) The person is operating a vehicle registered to the federal government and they are authorized to be driving the vehicle.
Driving Without a License is an Misdemeanour Offense.
Jail Time: No jail time.

Fine: $1,000

Vehicles being operated by a persons who does not hold a valid license, may be impounded at the officers discretion.


[16] [04] Driving with a Suspended or Revoked License

  1. A person who operates a motor vehicle at any time while their driving privilege is suspended or revoked is guilty under this section.
Driving with a Suspended or Revoked License is an Misdemeanour Offense.
Jail Time: No jail time.

Fine: $1,500

Vehicles being operated by a persons who does not hold a valid license, may be impounded at the officers discretion.

  1. All drivers and owners of motor vehicles shall be able to provide valid proof of insurance for the vehicle they are operating.
Vehicle Insurance is an Infraction.

[16] [06] Traffic Signals - Responsibilities at Green Light

  1. A driver facing a circular green signal shall proceed straight through or turn right or left. Any driver, including one turning, shall yield the right-of-way to other traffic and to pedestrians lawfully within the the intersections or adjacent crosswalks.
  2. A driver facing a green signal shown immediately in front of a marked lane for left or right turn shall enter the intersection to make the movement indicated by the paved markings. Drivers may also make a u-turn from instead of a left turn less prohibited by a sign.

[16] [06] Traffic Signals - Responsibilities at Red Light

  1. A driver facing a circular red signal alone shall stop at the marked limit line. If there is no marked limit line, the driver shall stop before entering the intersection. The driver shall remain stopped until an indication to proceed is shown.
  2. Except when a signal is present prohibiting a turn, a driver after coming to a complete stop as required by element 1, facing a steady circular red sign, may turn right, or left from a one-way-street onto a one-way-street. A driver making a turn must yield the right-of-way to pedestrians lawfully within an adjacent crosswalk and any vehicle that has approached or is approaching closely as to constitute hazard to the driver.
  3. A driver facing a steady red signal shown immediately in front of a lane marked for a left turn shall not enter the intersection to make the movement indicated by the paved marking.
Traffic Signals is an Infraction.

[16] [07] Driving on the Right Side

  1. On all highways, a vehicle shall be driven on the right half of the roadway or the right solid double parallel lines except as follows. A) Yellow markings do not prohibit a driver from crossing the making if (1) turning to the left at an intersection or into or out of a driveaway or private road, or (2) making a u-turn under the rules that govern that turn. B) When overtaking or passing another vehicle proceeding in the same direction and the action can be taken without crossing a solid yellow or white line. C) On a roadway that is restricted to one-way traffic.
Driving on the Right Side is an Infraction.

[16] [08] Maintaining Lanes

  1. Any vehicle proceeding upon a road at a speed less than the normal speed of traffic moving in the same direction at such time shall be driven in the right-hand lane of traffic or as close to the right-hand edge or curb unless overtaking or passing another vehicle proceeding in the same direction.
  2. Where a roadway has been divided into two or more clearly marked lanes for traffic one direction, the following rules apply: A) A vehicle shall be driven within a single lane and shall not be moved from the lane unless the movement can be made with reasonable safety.
  3. On a two-lane roadway, no vehicle shall be driven on the left side of the centre of the roadway unless overtaking or passing another vehicle proceeding in the same direction unless the left side of the roadway is clearly visible and free of oncoming traffic for a sufficient distance to safely pass.
Maintaining Lanes is an Infraction.

[16] [09] Following Distance

  1. The driver of a motor vehicle shall not follow another vehicle more closely than is reasonable and prudent. The driver must have due regard for the speed of such vehicle and the traffic surrounding and the road condition.
  2. No vehicle unless a authorized emergency vehicle shall follow 300 feet of any authorized emergency vehicle operating with their lights or sirens. Exemptions are as follows: (A) This section. (B) Shall not apply to those involved in a police escort.
Following Distance is an Infraction.

[16] [10] Right of Way

  1. The driver of a motor vehicle when approaching an intersection which has official traffic control signals that are inoperative shall stop at the intersection and may proceed with caution when it is safe to do so.
  2. The driver of a motor vehicle who is intending to turn left or complete a u-turn on any roadway shall yield to any oncoming traffic that may constitute a hazard at any time during the turning movement and shall continue to yield to any approaching vehicles until it is safe to complete the turn.
Right of Way is an Infraction.

[16] [11] Turning

  1. Both the approach for a right-hand turn and a right-hand turn shall be made from the farthest right edge of the road as safe unless the roadway markings permit otherwise.
  2. The approach for a left turn shall be made from the farthest left portion of the roadway that is lawfully available for the traffic moving in the direction of travel of the vehicle. The left turn shall not be made before entering the intersection.
  3. No driver shall make a u-turn at an intersection controlled by an official traffic control device except from the farthest left portion of the roadway which is available for the traffic moving in the direction of the travel of the vehicle.
Turning is an Infraction.

[16] [12] Speed Limits

  1. No driver shall operate a vehicle at speed greater than the posted or implied speed limit.
  2. No person shall operate a vehicle at a speed greater than what is reasonable and prudent for the weather, road conditions, visibility or surrounding traffic.
  3. No person shall drive on a roadway in a manner that is to impede or block the normal movement of traffic unless the stop is necessary for safe operation.
  4. No person shall drive any of the following vehicles on a highway at a speed in excess of 55 miles per hour: A) A motor truck or tractor having three or more axles or any motor truck or truck towing another vehicle. B) A vehicle transporting explosives.

[16] [13] Stop Signs

  1. The driver of any vehicle approaching a stop sign or paved marking area labelled "STOP" at the entrance to, or within, an intersection shall stop at the limit line.
  2. When two vehicles at any intersection from different roadways and the intersection is controlled in all directions by a stop sign, the driver of the vehicle on the left shall yield the right-of-way to the vehicle on it's immediate right.
Stop Signs is an Infraction.

[16] [14] Failure to Yield - Emergency Vehicles

  1. A driver who intentionally does not yield to emergency signals that are behind them or oncoming. A driver must yield to emergency signals with or without a siren active. The driver must yield to the right side or give way to the emergency vehicle.
Failure to Yield - Emergency Vehicles is an Infraction.
Jail Time: No jail time.

[16] [15] Reckless Driving

  1. A person who demonstrates a wilful disregard for the safety of the persons and property around them while operating a motor vehicle. Examples: A) Driving on an unpopulated sidewalk, pedestrian walkway, or plaza. B) Demonstrating poor control of the motor vehicle.
Failure to Yield - Emergency Vehicles is a Misdemeanour Offense.
Jail Time: 100 Seconds.

Fine: $1,200


[16] [16] Public Endangerment

  1. Any person who, under any circumstances or conditions is likely to produce great bodily harm or death, or wilfully causes or permits any person to suffer, or inflicts physical pain or mental suffering.
Public Endangerment is a Misdemeanour Offense.
Jail Time: 125 Seconds.

Fine: $1,500


[16] [17] Vehicle Contest

  1. A person shall not engage in a motor vehicle speed contest on the roadway. A motor vehicle speed contest includes a motor vehicle race against another vehicle or timing device.
  2. A person shall not aid in any motor vehicle speed contest or exhibition on a roadway, including obstructing or placing barricades on the roadway.
Vehicle Contest is a Misdemeanour Offense.
Jail Time: 40 Seconds.

[16] [18] Driving Under the Influence

  1. A person who drives a vehicle or operates heavy machinery under the influence of alcohol at or above the legal limit of 0.08 percent BAC.
  2. A person who drives a vehicle or operates heavy machinery requiring a commercial drivers license at or above the legal limit of 0.04 percent BAC.
  3. A person who is under the age of 21 and drives a vehicle or operates heavy machinery at or above the legal limit of 0.04 percent BAC.
  4. A person who drives a vehicle or operates heavy machinery while under the influence of awareness-altering drugs.
Driving Under the Influence is a Misdemeanour Offense.
Jail Time: 80 Seconds.

Fine: $1,200


[16] [19] Alcohol Beverages in the Vehicle

  1. At no point in time shall the driver of a motor vehicle consume alcoholic beverages while in a vehicle on the roadway.
  2. No person shall have in their possession while driving a vehicle on the roadway any bottle, can, or other container that contains any alcoholic beverage which has been opened or the seal has been broken.
Driving Under the Influence is a Infraction.

[16] [20] Vehicle Equipment

All motor vehicles that are operated on a roadway must be equipped with the following equipment (listed below). For the purpose of this section, a golf cart is considered a motorcycle as long as the golf cart is being operated on a roadway that has a speed limit of 25 MPH or less.

  1. Headlights: Exception: Motorcycles may only have one headlight.
  2. Red Taillights: Must be enabled during darkness or in climate weather.
  3. Red Breaking Lights
  4. Turn Signals: Turn signals are not required if hand signals are being used in a commercial vehicle.
  5. White Reverse Indicator
  6. Windshield: Exception: Motorcycles.
  7. Rear Viewing Mirrors
  8. Horn

All vehicles must not be equipped with the following:

  1. ^ Flashing lights: Exception: Emergency vehicles, construction vehicles, utility vehicles, tow vehicles, and turn signals.
  2. ^ Vehicle Lighting
  3. ^ Vehicle Markings: Non-emergency vehicles must not be equipped with any markings that match those on an emergency vehicle.
  4. ^ Sirens: Exception: Emergency Vehicles.
  5. ^ Armour Plating.
Vehicle equipment is an Infraction.
Jail Time: No jail time.

Fine: $200 Per Violation.

If the offense is marked with ^ then the vehicle may be impounded at the discretion of the officer.


[16] [21] Unsafe Speed for Conditions

  1. No person operating a motor vehicle on a public highway shall operate at a speed that is greater than one reasonable and prudent for the conditions of the roadway or traffic surrounding them.
Unsafe Speed for Conditions is an Infraction.

[16] [22] Helmet Law

  1. Any person operating or on a motorcycle, motor driven cycle, or motorized bicycle on a public roadway shall wear a safety helmet.
Helmet Law is an Infraction.
Jail Time: No jail time.

[16] [23] Jaywalking

  1. Between two intersections on a public roadway that are controlled by a traffic control device or peace officer, a person shall not cross the roadway unless at a labelled crosswalk.
Jaywalking is an Infraction.
Jail Time: No jail time.

[16] [24] Unnecessary Use of Horn

  1. The driver of a motor vehicle on a public roadway shall not use the horn unless it is to ensure safe operation of the motor vehicle.
Unnecessary Use of Horn is an Infraction.
Jail Time: No jail time.

[16] [25] Failure to Sign Citation

  1. In the case where a person is issued an infraction, including for any any city or county ordinance, and fails to sign the infraction, they are guilty under this section.
Failure to Sign Citation is a Misdemeanour Offense.
Jail Time: 20 Seconds

[16] [26] Window Tint

  1. Any vehicle operated on the public highway shall not have any material placed, applied, or installed on the window that is classed at "limo" or "pure black".
Window Tint is an Infraction punishable by a fix-it-ticket.

[16] [27] Driving on The Shoulder / Emergency Lane

  1. No vehicle shall be operated on the shoulder/emergency lane of a public roadway apart from emergency vehicles.
Driving on The Shoulder / Emergency Lane is an Infraction.
Jail Time: No jail time.

[16] [28] Illegal U-turn

  1. A driver is guilty under this section if they make a u-turn at an intersection where there is a traffic control device that prohibited making a u-turn.
Illegal U-turn is an Infraction.
Jail Time: No jail time.

[16] [29] Illegal Parking

  1. Parking in a marked "No Parking Zone" indicated by road markings or signs.
  2. Parking in a reserved space unless authorized and permitted.
  3. Parking on the shoulder or breakdown lane of a roadway without an emergency or mechanical failure or being ordered by law enforcement or traffic officials.
Illegal Parking is an Infraction.
Jail Time: No jail time.

Fine: $45

The vehicle will also be impounded.


[16] [30] Failure to Submit Breathalyzer Test

  1. When a person is stopped and under the suspicion if DUI and fails to consent to a breathalyzer test.
Failure to Submit Breathalyzer Test is a Misdemeanour Offense.
Jail Time: 30 Seconds.

Fine: $350


[16] [31] Hit and Run

  1. When one is involved in a motor vehicle accident and fails to stay at the scene.
  2. When one is in a motor vehicle accident with a pedestrian and fails to stay at the scene.
Hit and Run is a Misdemeanour Offense.
Jail Time: 60 Seconds.
